An Optifit bra is an essential element of ongoing post-operative care. Its function and effect is very different from the post-op bras currently available.
A conventional bra is focused on the breast (front to back)....the front cups fit against the chest wall....and sit on top of unstable tissue...compressing the breast....effectively ‘sandwiching’ the breast mass (and implant) between the bra and the chest wall. Every movement causes the cup to move across the tissue laterally one way and the tissue/implant moves the opposite way.
The effects are clear to see on an external breast prosthesis (which may be worn after a woman has had a mastectomy) The continual lateral movement of the bra causes vertical cracks and splits on the inside of the prosthesis, even if the bra cup is pocketed.
Optifit fits the unique body behind the breast ...the back sits low down and elevates the breast upwards and away from the chest wall (back to front). The suspensory ligaments are held as the shoulder is rotated back. The cups fully support the axillary tissue and lower pole of the breasts.
It will hold your breast in its optimum position without displacing or distorting the breast tissue. This will give stability as your breast adapts to the implant, and in doing so, will also minimise the risk of implant rotation.
